Sieveking will das langsame Sterben seiner Mutter nicht für sensationalistische Zwecke ausbeuten, viel mehr will er ihr ein Denkmal setzen und schreibt ihr dabei einen rührenden, filmgewordenen Liebesbrief. Trotzdem macht er den Zuschauer zwangsläufig zum Voyeur, weil er intimste Details über jemanden preisgibt, der nicht mehr versteht, was das bedeutet, der nicht einmal einschätzen kann, dass er gerade die Hauptfigur in einem Kinofilm wird.
Auch wenn es ein guter geworden ist.

This is a very famous prayer of the Inuit. It shows their willingness to maintain themselves through adversity and to remain strong, yet gentle for always tomorrow will dawn.
